Like so many good things, this process takes loads of time and labor. Peony Chasing and repoussé

After being worked for a bit the copper becomes so hardened that it will eventually crack. Continuous annealing with a torch or kiln is an unskippable step. Peony after heating and covered in fire scale, but nice and soft again. Oh, and a few little marching ants, because peonies!
