The Lodge at Cloudcroft is a historic resort resting at 9,000 ft. Constructed in 1899 by the Alamogordo and Sacramento Mountain Railway, the resort became a successful mountain retreat. Of course, it has a resident ghost, Rebecca Porter.

At over 9000 ft elevation, #Cloudcroft is 16 miles from #Alamogordo, but 4500 ft higher. Totally different weather on a daily basis. I use this when visiting White Sands. Too hot in the summer? Stay in Cloudcroft. Drop to the basin after 5 PM. Too cold? Stay in Alamogordo. Much warmer. #NewMexico
