This is Bell Biv DeVoe.
Their manifesto is inspiring my pitch for my next book:
“My book is mentally literary, smoothed out on the comp-rhet tip with a pop media studies feel appeal.”

A colorful postcard that says, “Celebrating Pride!” The title and author of a book review are featured: Send My Love to the Family: A Review of Glasby, Gradin, and Ryerson’s Storytelling in Queer Appalachia: Imagining and Writing the Unspeakable Other by Vee Lawson. There is also a quote featured that reads: “This collection of eleven essays looks through singular narratives of a homogenous Appalachia—white, cisgendered or heteronormative, solely masculine, repressive, or backwards—to see many experiences of Appalachian queer identity, engaging narratives of exile, return, and liminality as the writers demonstrate that Appalachia itself is ‘a little bit quare.'” The cover of the book is featured, a rainbow background with the title in black text over a white text bubble.

CFP for TCSJ special issue: "Unjust 'Permission Structures' in/as Technical Communication" | Technical Communication and Social Justice We are thrilled to invite proposals for our special issue of Technical Communication and Social Justice (TCSJ) on the topic of Unjust “Permission Structures” in/as Technical Communication. While the process of permission structuring originates from controlling access and user roles within computer networks, this technical term has been appropriated to describe a rhetorical strategy whereby communicators use the audience's existing beliefs and values to persuade them to accept novel opinions and/or take action. Permission structures thereby aim to facilitate a change of opinion by building “a process that helps them see [a new] point of view more clearly” (Pfeiffer qtd. in Holland & Bohan, 2013). In other words, people are more likely to change their minds if the new belief is “structured” to connect to their original belief.

One more reminder: Submit your idea for the Technical Communication & Social Justice special issue on "Unjust Permission Structures"

Proposals due tomorrow, Friday, December 20!
