Users are pickier. **Security isn't a feature anymore — it's your app's first line of defense.** Let me show you how to build a **robust, secure authentication system in Laravel** that protects your users — and your reputation. ## Why Laravel? And Why Security Is _Your_ Job Laravel is developer-friendly, powerful, and comes with **starter authentication scaffolding**. But don't let that lull you into thinking it’s safe enough for production. **Security is a mindset.** And in Laravel, it’s also a series of smart practices: * Validating everything (always) * Encrypting sensitive data * Preventing unauthorized access * Using modern hashing * Enabling 2FA and more Let’s break it all down. ## Step 1: Start With Laravel Breeze or Laravel Jetstream Laravel makes it easy to scaffold authentication with Breeze or Jetstream. To install Breeze: composer require laravel/breeze --dev php artisan breeze:install npm install && npm run dev php artisan migrate ✅ You now have: * Login * Register * Password reset * Email verification **Want something more advanced with 2FA, sessions, and teams?** ## Step 2: Don’t Store Plain Passwords (Ever) Laravel uses bcrypt to hash passwords by default.
