I've been impressed with the work being done on #OpenHamClock - and it's a very nice look, has good flexibility.
But I can't help thinking it's intentionally built for a very different audience.
#HamClock (of old) is for casual, general use. The openhamclock is very active-DXer-focused.
Oh, and there's yet ANOTHER open source #hamclock in progress. It sounds like this one aims to look exactly like the doomed hamclock, but at the moment it's not quite ready yet.

Sometimes it's hard to skip out of the country. West coast really strong. Here are the 2 Hamclocks. The new one and the older classic.
Tightly-cropped screenshot of just the "Live Spots" section of HamClock, wherein 160m 0 80m 0 60m 0 40m 19 30m 19 20m 116 17m 0 15m 102 12m 105 10m 161 6m 0
Much heard lately about #OpenHamClock & I'm quite grateful that someone's making something that can replace the soon-expiring #HamClock
However, its author is clearly more on-air than I am. My station is RX FT8 band-hopping 24x7, & my HamClock shows me at a glance what bands are hot HERE.
This is terrible news. I had always assumed that #HamClock was aggregating stuff from various sources in the local software. I didn't know it was apparently all dependent on one cloud server. I suppose there's no hope of it getting open-sourced now.

I have Hamclock running 'headless' on a Pi 2W, and accessing it via it's web server. This is working better than expected. #hamclock #raspberrypi #hamradio
Broken server? I tried to love #hamclock but I just couldn’t. Good luck, Mark.
The bands were on fire 🔥 all over the weekend with the CQ WW DX SSB Contest underway on HF. An estimated 35,000+ stations on air over the 48-hour period. I ended up with 291 in the log. #hamradio #amateurradio #hamclock

just rebooted my HamClock , option to upgrade to ver 4.20
Version 4.20: 2025-07-06
fix: NOAA SpaceWx day label color was not consistent
fix: add arrows to dashed satellite path
fix: Big Clock refresh could leave extra bits
fix: avoid versions of gpiod that are too old
The grayline is the great circle around the globe that defines the border of night and day. As can be seen on these two hemisphere circular maps, one centered on Minnesota, the other centered on the exact opposite spot in the Indian Ocean, the furthest places spotted on FT8 on 20 & 40 (& a couple 80) meters are not spread in all directions. Rather, the furthest stations I’m decoding are in the directions that follow the grayline.
Some mornings, the #HamClock display really shows off that #GrayLine truly is a thing.
Map of the Petoskey, MI area, with an APRS object (red house icon with “EOC” in white) shown.
The monitor above my day-job screen is almost always on #HamClock, but when someone creates an #EOC object in #APRS in Petosky, #Michigan the #YAAC map pops to foreground. The word “EMERGENCY” in the beacon triggers. Cool!

...to switch between which full-screen app is in the foreground. e.g. DireWolf, YAAC, HamClock, firefox I've got 3 of those rotating every 3 min on the #RaspberryPi and 2 of those rotating on my #AndysHamRadioLinux box. This not only makes my WFH environment a little more interesting, visually, but also reduces #ScreenBurnIn The pictured example bash script handles rotating between active screens listed in an array.
As a #HamRadio guy with 4 displays on all the time, 75% of which are doing something #AmateurRadio related, but 2 of them are rarely interacted with. Just something interesting to look at, like #HamClock or #TheHolyCluster

So y'all know about #HamDashboard yeah?
github.com/VA3HDL/hamdashboard
So I put that up in place of 1 of my 2 #HamClock screens. Modified it to loop a YouTube of mine instead of his in the lower-left corner.
Then it sits looping 24x7, much of the time […]

OK, time to do some actual work for a while. Will leave WJST-X-Improved band-hopping 40m thru 6m for the time being. Then later, I'll see via #HamClock which band is getting the best reach into Europe, and may try doing more #SCAMP transmissions.
For those of you who use #HamClock to keep a view of #HamRadio things...
Do you have it configured to tell you about #Aurora - and if so, has the forecast been stuck on 82% for a couple days?

Found my old #raspberrypi3 and installed #hamclock in it. Seems to be working fine.
Too bad resolution is bit odd, 1600x960 🤔
All throughout Christmas Eve, Father Christmas was being plotted on HamClock. Here’s a timelapse of the day taken from my hamclock.co.uk site.
Merry Christmas all!

Screenshot of a couple panels of HamClock. On the left: Live Spots, which is merely a count from pskreporter of how many stations I decoded in the past hour on each band. 160m 7 80m 31 60m 10 40m 82 30m 32 20m 56 17m 20 15m 27 12m 26 10m 5 6m 0 2m 0 The square to the right shows the moon phase. Slightly less than the left half is illuminated.
It is one thing to note that 7 stations were heard on #160m #FT8 #HamRadio #HamClock
It is yet another thing to note that it is almost a guarantee it’s the same 7 as yesterday… & as last week.
Wondering just how busy the bands were over the weekend? DXCluster spots and FTx activity are usually a good way to judge things. Take a look at the two timelapses for the 14th and 15th December here: hamclock.co.uk/archive/

I’m a big fan of HamClock and I’m pleased to be testing the next version which comes with the ability to upload your log adif file and then highlight new slots in the dxcluster/on the air panels. This is going to be great for easily seeing spots of new entities and band slots. #hamradio #hamclock
Need to look into the source of WX info that #HamClock uses.
HamClock thinks it's -18.4 degrees, but #AccuWeather says -4, #Wunderground says -3, & my own #NetAtmo outdoor unit says -5.3.
Oh, wait. This thing's using #Celsius I suppose.
Ok, @petervogel.bsky.social talked me into it. #HamClock is great!
