"I know there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there, who are watching me right now, and I wanna tell you, you can do it. Anything is possible. Don't allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you, to tell you that you can't be here... You are exactly who you need to be right where you are."

This creator is not vegan or even plant based but she makes good points about veganism. Donald Watson only coined the term at the vegan society, not the concept.

Every woman you know has taken a longer route.
Has doubled back on herself.
Has pretended to dawdle by a shop window.
Has held her keys in her hand.
Has made a fake phone call.
Has rounded a corner and run.
Every woman you know has walked home scared.
Every woman you know.

Women of color are more likely to experience microaggressions at work – and that takes a toll on their mental health.
🔸 Judgment questioned in area of expertise
🔸 Feeling like you have to be careful when talking about yourself or life outside of work
🔸 Others express surprise at language skills/abilities
🔸 Interrupted or spoken over
🔸 Overhearing insults about your culture/people like you

The image shows a digital drawing of two monkeys. They look similar but not the same as the Open Security Conference mascot named Osco. Both are sitting on the ground next to each other, smiling at us with rosy cheeks.
The one on the left is a light brown monkey with a red flame on top of their head and at the tip of their tail, as well as bright red eyes. They are hugging a lock in the shape of a purple and white flame.
The other one on the right is a dark brown monkey with a blue flame on top of their head and at the tip of their tail, as well as dark blue eyes. They are holding a basketball. They wear dark blue nail polish and their left ear shows a silver earring connected by a thin chain to a piercing in their upper ear.

Today is the International Women's Day.
Let's be mindful that inequality and oppression do not stop with women. They also affect other underrepresented groups and many people belong to more than one of them. 1/2

A Tumblr post by tpwrtmnky that says pseudointersectional misogyny, or that thing where you discuss gender relations exclusively in the framework of multiply marginalized men vs the most privileged woman alive." And a response from taliabHattWrites that says "'do poor men of color oppress rich white women?!' hey buddy, you not thinking of poor women of color is the problem, and also tells me you haven't actually read any of crenshaw's work on intersectionality, because the erasure of multiply-marginalized-women was what the original fucking 1989 paper was about"

One aspect of the oppression of women is that, even when it comes to feminism, people cannot help but make the discussion entirely about a man

What is Stigma?

Stigma involves negative attitudes, such as prejudice, and negative behaviors, like discrimination.

It can prevent individuals from seeking and obtaining care, treatment, or support for mental health issues.

The term "stigma" refers to a brand, a mark of disgrace or infamy, and a mark of censure (Dobson & Stuart, 2021).

As Ritzer (2021, p. 162) explains, stigma is a characteristic of a person that others perceive, define, and often label as unusual, unpleasant, or deviant.

Labels are intended to portray individuals as unpredictable, unreliable, and potentially dangerous (Dobson & Stuart, 2021). When effectively applied, a label creates fear and distance between society and the labeled individual.

It's a huge net positive that we have multiple schools of feminist thought & feminists with highly variable foci. Unity is great and all, but so is debate.

Besides, we're far better at covering each other's blind spots when we're allowed to specialize—vegetarian ecofeminists tackle subjects that hadn't even crossed my mind, and where our conversations overlap, they offer valuable angles that I couldn't have. Angles we ultimately benefit from whether we agree or not.

Ditto for carceral feminists, technofeminists, etc. We don't have to be in perfect lock-step. We just have to do our best to show up for each other. Patriarchy wins if men can convince us that coalition is a dirty word.
