For a while, the spam bot account registrations were getting pretty darn good with generating passable “reason for joining” text.

However, this latest spike is awful! Just nonsense slop like:

“Master, but make it skateboard. Pairing fixie with Bock.”

“Locally sourced yr, globally abundant […]

I thought the masto.nyc weather feature was broken, because there's no way it's snowing right now.

...I was wrong, apparently

And we are back! Now running from a server in my kid's bedroom 🥳

The documentation at https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/migrating/ is really really really good, and it all went off without a hitch, except for my CloudFlare tunnel setup, which I'll blog about shortly.

A graph showing metrics of how long it took worker processes to process traffic. It is 24hrs. Before around noon there was normal, light activity. Around noon there was a period with no activity while the server was done, then a large spike and more activity than normal for a couple hours before settling down again.

Just looking at the sidekiq stats to see how things cleared out. All in all, Not bad for a 2008 iMac.

TIL: If your home feed for some reason gets stuck (e.g., doesn’t load past a certain point), running `tootctl feeds build` can help solving it. I ran it inside my sidekiq pod, but your hosting _will_ vary from mine. #mastoadmin

#MastoAdmin reminder if you are running on SSD. Linux has atime enabled by default, so to reduce wear consider turning it off with “zfs set atime=off yourpoolname”
