#Yellowstone mudpots are fumaroles drowned in surface moisture. When that moisture evaporates what’s left are startlingly geometric cracks and crevices. For me their texture is definitely part of the magic of mudpots!

It’s RED+GREEN photoweek for me. How about this’n from #Yellowstone. A brick red “tomato soup” #mudpot surrounded by some primeval looking lush greenness.

Mudpot Monday. This mudpot was sending blobs 10-15’ up. My photo caught one in midair. Launched blobs were preceded by a loud “whump” followed by a short wet “gasp” of expelled gas from the fumarole below.
It was a delight to watch & listen to this #mudpot.
