This image shows several old academic report cards and certificates laid out on a patterned rug. They appear to belong to a student named Isabelle Toomey and are dated from the late 1800s, with one report card marked for the term ending January 22, 1892. The documents include hand-written grades and teacher signatures. Subjects listed include arithmetic, geography, grammar, reading, spelling, physiology, and more. Some of the cards are from "Pittsford Union School and Academy" and "Pittsford Union School," with references to Regents Examinations and officials like Melvil Dewey. The cards are yellowed with age and written in a mix of cursive and print.
Was sorting old family stuff yesterday. Ever wonder what a report card from 1889 looks like?
Here's one my great-grandmother received as a young girl, while living in Rochester, New York.
