From Wikipedia: Goldie Boathouse is the fitness and administrative base of Cambridge University Boat Club, located on the River Cam in Cambridge, England. It was originally the University boathouse and was named after CUBC's President J. H. D. Goldie, who also gave his name to the University's second crew.
This is one of the Cambridge boathouse series, dated 1996 (the Goldie). All of these early ones were painted sitting on the river bank (i.e. not from photographs). Later I took photos to help with finishing them. #Cambridge #rowing #theCam

Long ago in the '90s I was asked to do a painting of one of the boathouses on the Cam. I hadn't thought about painting them before but I went on to paint and draw virtually all of them. This is one of them (not the original commission). I'll look for a photo of the first one.
