Some novels receive awards prior to being published. The manuscript is submitted pre-release during the award period for that award. When this happens the novel enters the published world as 'award winning' and that is a banner on the cover.

Your submission spread sheet should be listed from 'top paying or qualifying markets' all the way down to 'for the love markets'. Always try to sell to qualifying markets first. Never submit more than one story to a single market at one time.
