I don't think being expected to make a profit is going to work out for them. Almost nobody is paying for AI, but they keep dumping money into it like a bottomless pit. Now 20% of the US GDP is in AI, and we're totally cooked because the business model is:

Until the trotskyists #UnderpantsGnomes are thoroughly removed from seats of influence in #UCU, any potential industrial action will be bent towards their idiotic fetish of permanent revolution via strikes at the expense of improvements in workers pay, benefits & conditions.
Agree, but would worry the Trotskyists #UnderpantsGnomes would end up driving the agenda in the H.E. sector and waste everyone's time.

I have lead and/or worked on many corporate and non-profit entity projects for a large portion of my life.
And the horrible thing the gnomes' logic is 100% accurate in much of the real world.
