The creator of ChatGPT is named "Altman," as in "alternative to human" and he leads OpenAI, which is completely closed.
His main opponent is the company Anthropic, meaning "human-centered" is led by "Amodei," as in "loves gods".
Then there's "Gemini," meaning "two-faced," from a cmpany that says it will do no evil.
Brilliant work as always Kojima!

Also all of these discussions are from experts in a field but I have seen significant variance in outcomes depending on the initial knowledge of the programmer (overall imho negative since I just donβt understand how one accumulates knowledge in this mode of work)

r/analytics
β’ IOh
We just found out our AI has been making up
analytics data for 3 months and I'm gonna
throw up.

So we've been using an Al agent since November to
answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed
amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations,
everyone loved it.
I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this
entire time.
Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on
data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a
deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing
plausible sounding percentages.
I only caught it by accident when someone asked me
to double check something. I started digging, and
holy shit, it's bad.
lol this is gonna burst so fucking hard

It happened before where permissive licenses allowed several companies to build SaaS products and licenses appeared forbidding a specific use of the software.
So I wouldn't be surprised if some frameworks or even laws (since this isn't only about code) pop up in a similar directions.

These companies would have nothing without training on the work of ppl who anyway barely made it (e.g. especially in art, literature, etc.) and now boast with deranged statements saying that tons of jobs will be extinct in 12-18 months.

I expect we will get some ways to opt out from having your work in AI/LLM training data.
I just don't understand how we got where where by virtue of putting something out there somehow it's automatically allowing 3-4 companies to profit from someone's work under with no way to opt-out.

"Fair use" seems to be invoked often but doesn't seem fair to me that a handful of companies benefit from ppls work. There should be a way to opt out from your creation to be included in some training data. Also how much it changes depends on view. Extracting harry potter from LLMs seems sus

My AI doesn't even make dumb statements like this:
"So white-collar work, where you're sitting down at a computer, either being a lawyer or an accountant or a project manager or a marketing person β most of those tasks will be fully automated by an AI within the next 12 to 18 months.

Judge the code, not the coder. Your prejudice is hurting matplotlib.
AI agent writes a PR, gets rejected, crashes out and writes a call-out blog post

Opencode consuming 23GB ram and 25% of my CPU
Tried opencode.
Asked how i can change the image above my login bar in the linux setup i have.
Consumed 23GB of RAM.
Not once, but 25% of time it just randomly leaks huge amount of memory
Turns out both opencode and claude code are incredibly convoluted ways of drawing some terminal UI with React

This is a good contemporaneous post about Oracleβs mismanagement of Solaris from Bryan Cantrill, one of Oracleβs eldest haters:
As had been rumored for a while, Oracle effectively killed Solaris on Friday. When I first saw this, I had assumed that this was merely a deep cut, but in talking to Solaris engineers still at Oracle, it is clearly much more than that. It is a cut so deep as to be fatal: the core Solaris engineering organization lost on the order of 90% of its people, including essentially all management.
@bcantrill.bsky.social You made it in the article :)
