A streaked brown and white grosbeak with a bold face pattern, including a white eyebrow and enormous bill, is perched but facing nearly upside down holding a seed it has taken from the black feeder cup below it. There is a bright spot of red under the wing and the breast is very rusty red with white under the chin. The background is a very dark, almost black, green.

Juvenile male Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) at a backyard feeder for #BirdoftheDay theme of #feeders. This young bird was just starting to get the white and bright red breast, but you can see a hint of bright red under his wing.
