This has to be red stripe Railfreight in its truest form. The class 58, the final class of loco to be built at Doncaster Works.
58019 passes through Crewe with a rake of MGRs, doing what it was built to do.

Type 5, 58036 and classmate soak up the sun outside Toton TMD. Very much the home for the locos serving the Nottinghamshire coalfields. The loco was one of many exported to France to see out its days.

The coalfield workhorse, and the locomotive that was the absolute definition of red stripe Railfreight livery. Built in Yorkshire at the mighty Doncaster Works, with 3300hp on tap from that Ruston Paxman power unit! Hugely missed! #Class58 #Bone #RedStripeRailfreight

#SemaphoreSunday just visible through the halo-like haze of clag from 58023 at Kidderminster station during the Severn Valley Railway spring diesel gala last month. Great to finally see this fairly rare survivor in action & get some mileage behind her. #Class58 #BritishRail 15/5/25
58044 ‘Oxcroft Opencast’ powers its fully laden train south through Monk Fryston. Feeding the power stations of Ferrybridge, Drax, and Eggborough round the clock. How times change.

58048 ‘Coventry Colliery’ powers a rake of empty MGRs over Milford Junction near Monk Fryston. A vision very much consigned to the history books, with nearby Gascoigne Wood sidings now primarily used for vehicle storage. #Class58 #Bone #RailfreightCoal #BritishRail
