Lots of detail painting this evening, #histscalemodels. Everything is ready for the satin varnish before decals, pin washes, and final assembly. Really looking forward to the weathering stage, as this scene is set at my old stomping grounds at Fort Riley, Kansas which has deep, nearly black mud.
I fell off the #BuildtheStash wagon at Rivercon today, but I can’t say no to good 1/72 plane & armor kits for $5!

View from port side. The aircraft is in a blue-grey colour (PRU Blue) with a medium Sea Grey stripe running along the nose and dorsal spine. A large round camera port is visible behind the cockpit.
Finished the Airfix 1/72 Spitfire XIX build. Royal Thai Air Force 1954.
This aircraft flew the last ever RAF Spitfire sortie, and was then sold to the Thai government. Out of box build.

Scratchbuilt instrument panels for 1/72 Rareplane XP-67 Bat
Back to the instrument panel. I first gave it a coat of enamel gloss black, then a thin coat of acrylic black lightened up with a drop of white. Then removed the acrylic from the embossed parts with a cotton swab dipped in acrylic thinner.
Drybrushing is next…

A 1/32 Spitfire IX/XVI kit by Tamiya at the poster's local hobby shop. The side illustration shows a plane from 349 Squadron with the code letters 'D (roundel) GE'. Which can be read as DOGE, that poor meme that has been dragged through the mud since 2024.

I've been working on breaking up the large slab sides of the KV-2 turret recently. Happy with where it is currently. Aiming for a dried mud and dust look for a late summer on the eastern front tank. Hoping the flory thick washes will help with that.

#HistScaleModels #ScaleModels Need advice. I'm trying my first airplane that has inset windows instead of a canopy. I'm using Micro Crystal Clear, but it squeezes out no matter how little I apply. When I use a wet Q-tip to remove it, it smears and will not clean up. All my windows fogged. Help.

I am currently deciding what to do with my MkIV. I was going to slap loads of mud on it but I do like where it is going at the moment. I will add more filth, dirt, stains etc like this. What do you reckon #histscalemodels ?
A partially painted Canadian LAV-III model in 1:35 scale that currently looks rather grey. Eventual goal is to make it look reasonably weathered, sunbaked, and gritty, but well taken care of in UN colours.
One thing I'd like to get from the work in progress section towards the completed section over time is a 1:35 scale Trumpeter LAV-III that I'd started to paint in UN colours, because it seemed like an interesting challenge, and a way to get to experiment heavily with weathering.

All painted up, decals to go. Prior to paint and varnish it sat on three wheels...now it won't which is annoying as I put more weight in than suggested. Saying that the weights are placed more mid section than in the actual nose section. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

I've finished it as white section leader, VF-41 deployed on board USS Ranger, Dec 1940.
VF-41 & VF-71 on board USS Wasp (black tails) were the first units to operate the new Grumman monoplane fighters🙂

Calling time on the Tamiya Simca 5. My ham fisted issues with glass prevail. Nonetheless, I'm happy with this little distraction from tanks etc. It looks pretty and I've actually built a car to a reasonable level for amateurs, so its a win. #histscalemodels
