Libraries are great resources. In algebra at @trianglemath.bsky.social we had topics like math duels & adventures by Cardano, Tartaglia, etal & imag nums as embarrassing kluge last wk-on to Viète. Here’s book for middle/high & one on 0 for yngr Ss-both fascinating #historyOfMath! #mtbos #iteachmath
This is really exciting! I loved ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity’ -it’s great that a film will be made about Maryam Mirzakhani! #mtbos #iteachmath #historyOfMath @momath.bsky.social

We all had #mathisfun at the Durham Public Library today for K-3 students learning about the integer partition problem. I read the book, "Friend of Numbers: The Life of Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan" by Priya Narayanan and we explored breaking up integers. #mtbos #iteachmath #historyOfMath
We really enjoyed our talk on #annaJuliaCooper at the City Museum of Raleigh - good questions and dialogue. Afterwards a nice #vegan lunch at Gringo A Go Go with its fun decor. #mtbos #iteachmath #historyOfMath #civilRights

Historical context enriches calculus learning. Contributions from diverse cultures (Greek, Indian, Russian) show its evolution. This underscores the importance of conceptual understanding over mere memorization or "plug-and-chug" techniques for true mastery. #HistoryOfMath 6/6
Several of my #PurdueFortWayne #Math colleagues retired shortly after the 2020 pandemic outset, and some since then, and we finally had a retirement dinner celebration for all of them. (particularly famous among them, graph theorist L. Beineke :k33: :k5: )

200+ years before Leibniz&Newton created calculus, Indian mathematicians like Madhava of Kerala School (River Nila School) that lasted 300 yrs had 1st developed ideas of limits & series like Maclaurin as per Swagat Saurav Mishr sharing P.P. Divakaran's #historyOfMath www.youtube.com/live/G23Jx0k...
We had a lot of #mathisfun in our 1st-3rd grade #mathCircle looking at angles & seeing angles of a triangle add to 180deg. We discussed why we use 360 instead of a power of 10 to measure angles and talked a bit about #historyOfMath and zero. One student made their own protractor! #mtbos #iteachmath
A reexamination of inscribed sherds from Tel Arad uncovers the overlooked world of ancient numeracy. Beyond literacy, Judahite administrators mastered timekeeping and accounting centuries before exile. #AncientNearEast #Epigraphy #HistoryOfMath
