Head-on view of an insect with a shield-shaped body that features red splotches on a black background. There are raised white dots down the center of the shield and around the perifery.
A view from more overhead of the previously described insect.
It's time to ask the #entomology and #insectid folks for help identifying this insect that is proliferating on my datil pepper plants. They look like stink bugs but I can't line them up with any pictures online to know if they're pests or predators. On leaves and peppers. Many present, only adults.

An unidentified winged insect on a window.
Anyone out there in the bug world able to identify this little fella? Didnt quite look like a wasp, didnt quite look like a beetle. Had a transparent part of its abdomen. It was captured under a glass and released safely outside after this picture was taken.

A tiny bug is shown using a microscope. It is round in the middle, with each end coming to a point. It has prominent red eyes, long antennae, a few pairs of short legs, one pair of very long legs, and apparent pincers on its back end. It is yellow in the center of its body, with more white going toward the back end. Its edges are brown with yellow bands and white specs. Its longest (rear) legs have black banding.
Spotted a tiny yellow bug that looked like a mite on a diseased rose leaf; got it under the microscope, and now I’m surprised and genuinely unsure what it is. 😂 Any guesses? Lens keeps suggesting different things.

Ok Bluesky, how are you for this kind of thing… what manner of bee is this? It was SO BIG, I thought it was a hornet but it wasn’t hard and shell-y, it had fur! Help me bee experts #bee #insect #insectID

The empty shell of the cicada from the other photos placed next to a smaller empty cicada shell on a green picnic table.
Anyone here skilled at identifying cicadas?
I found this cicada molting yesterday and had never seen one this size!
I’m located just outside of Atlanta and the last photo has a comparison of this one’s shell next to one the size I usually find.

Can anyone help me with the ID of this bee? Snapped yesterday in NW Illinois. I am a beginner bumble enthusiast and this one is tripping me up with the seemingly smooth black thorax.

An ant(?) in a clear Tupperware container on top of a wooden countertop. It's glossy black, about 3/4 to one inch long. The tips of my fingers are near it to try and show perspective.
#InsectID help please 🐜🦋🌱🧪
Found this crawling near the cat's water bowl. Central California, in the forest. Bigger than I've seen before, and would love to know what type of ant it is. Details in alt text. Thanks!
Human hand holds a leaf (about 4-5cm long?) on which a smallish caterpillar (1-2cm long) feeds. Caterpillar is black with an orange-brown dorsal stripe and white dots along the side, with various clumps of hairs sprouting. Leaf is comfrey, so a bit hairy and quite soft.
Finding identification of this caterpillar to be harder than anticipated! Thought it'd be a quick job (is there a comprehensive resource that categorises most UK caterpillars by appearance?) but not that quick.
Location: Kent, UK
Foodplant: Comfrey (Symphytum)

This is a long shot I know, but can anyone help me with whether this thing is animal or vegetable? It's about 2.5 -3 mm long and was stuck on an indoor wall of my house. Looks very odd, and a bit like a pupa but certainly biological

Very tiny, but somewhat long in shape black bug on the rim of a piece of toilet paper, looking around with a oval head on a quite long neck for the tiny size. The paper’s flower imprint and texture seems huge in comparison to our about 5 millimeter long friend.
New bug, who dis?
Found peeking from under the trash can in the bathroom, this tiny friend is completely new to me. #insectID please?

Very very tiny black ball came from Queens Tears Bilbergia Nutans. It seems to have yellow eyes & underside wings of orange. Am also very close to bushland. Any ideas appreciated. Nothing using Lens.
