If anybody was wondering: qs is an alias for #quickshell - as I'm currently playing around with runtime-compiled singletons, changing config reload doesn't work so I need to restart manually. I'm honestly surprised it is not even more calls.
I think I might be getting there...

Screenshot of the notification list on my desktop. The notifications are grouped based on app name and sorted by recency.
The notification system is ~13% of my total shell codebase... And it's not even ready yet (I'm also omitting the integrations of the system in the rest of the codebase).

#nixos #niri #quickshell Finally satisfied with my new laptop
#Quickshell rockt halt 🔥
Screenshot of my shell's lock screen. A fingerprint icon is visible in the center, and the text below it reads "Place your right middle finger on the fingerprint reader".
Fingerprint authentication!
(Because my new #thinkpad has a working fingerprint sensor now)

OK, so I read that KaOS is dumping KDE (questionable motivation as #KDE #plasma itself doesn't depend on systemd…) and they are pondering #noctalia (https://github.com/noctalia-dev/noctalia-shell and O-M-G! It looks so gorgeous! And it turns out to be based on #Quickshell ( […]

AerynOS Show and Tell
One of our users Christian Bendiksen has been helping with the bring up of MangoWC along with other helpful packages such as Quickshell and Noctalia as demonstrated in this video he created.

#Hyprland desktop showing a quickshell bar on top with a Kate window below. The bar has been upgraded with a tray area, a logout/power button and some visuals.
The #Quickshell desktop shell for my #gentoo #linux machine is coming along nicely.
I have added tray management, a nice border glow, properly localized the clock widget and added a nice power button widget.
Might actually publish it sometime soon.
You know you're really getting into a piece of software, only when you manage to crash it... #quickshell
I think I'm really closing in on a workflow and aesthetic that I'd call perfect (for me, that is). What this space for a #Quickshell announcement.
So I can't find a ton of good tutorials for quickshell, since its just QML, should I just look for QT tutorials?

A screenshot of a Hyprland desktop. It's a simple layout with three console windows and a custom toolbar. Fun stuff: one Easter egg showing how "vim +h42" produces something about the meaning of life, and another window is an ASCII aquarium. The last window is just a boring top command.
I wanted to learn #NixOS and #Quickshell, so I installed Nix and started writing a toolbar in QML this break. Pretty nifty. I'm loving NixOS. Progress so far is here: codeberg.org/muddygs/hypr...
I've gone down the path of building my own Quickshell from scratch... send help!

Today we won't be drawing the tileset as I said, instead we will have fun with #quickshell so I can set up a custom desktop environment because I like ridiculous customization options!
See ya at 19:00 CET for some #niri + #nixos + #quickshell action!

Actually, today, instead of drawing the tileset, I want to fuck around with #Quickshell, so we will do that! It will be a weird #stream of me trying to customize my desktop environment to my tastes using this specific framework. Why? Because I love doing that and it seems real fuuun 💖

Anyone here used Quickshell with Niri? Not doing anything definitive yet but I'm just a little curious.

A screenshot showing a computer desktop. Beside the background showing circles colored in orange, red, blue and green there is a large triangle with a arch like cutout on the lower end in the center of the image. All those circle are using two colors which blend into each other. The top of the screen is showing a single bar with icon's and text. On the left there is a arch logo visible, followed by a date and time to the right. The last icon on the left site is a note block. The middle of the bar is showing the numbers 1 - 5 where 5 is having a orange backdrop with an orange line below, showing that it is currently selected. The right side is showing a running man icon followed by the battery percentage and icon. Next to that the current WiFi with the connectivity strength is shown. The last item to the right is a showing a burger menu icon with a 2 inside of an circle.
This screenshot is showing the exact same background and top bar as the image before, but there is an additional part on the left side next to the logo. The screenshot is showing a "Latest Notification" area with a single notification inside informing the user that a screenshot was taken lately.
The screenshot shows the same image as the first one, but there is a bar visible to the right. The bar is built in a vertical manor. The first area is showing the user image as well as information about the username, uptime and kernel version. Bellow that area there are two buttons visible, showing the connection state for bluetooth and WiFi. This is followed by control sliders for speaker, microphone and brightness. Bellow that there is a notification area showing past notifications. Each notification does have a "x" allowing it to be dismissed. The last item is a power off button on the bottom left.
I need to change the color themes slightly to be matching with my unlocked UI. I did a rewrite for that as well. Instead of using waybar and eww I rewrote everything with quickshell. The last thing I did implement where the notifications.

I started to rework my Hyprland ricing once again ... I did find out about "Quickshell" and thought to myself that it would be nice if every element was using the same framework. This will allow me to better interact with those elements and use a better design language.
So I recreated my Waybar […]
