An interesting and important point. The electricity network is not going away (indeed, it is being radically expanded). The point where the supply chain to the petrol pump becomes uneconomic may be sooner than we thought.

The math isn't difficult. TMX cost what, $36B?
Assuming it's less than that, a generous $32B, if we make $1B in profit each year, it will take 32 years, or until 2057 to break even.
Big problems:
It's not clearing $1B/y.
It's #StrandedAssets long before 2040.
Foreign countries & developing nations will not waste their money on gas, when they can skip a step & electrify. China is supplying green tech fast, & outpacing US oil & gas exports in 2025.
