I once did a programming test on-site, on-demand, with no forewarning or prep, for a job with a big auto manufacturer. Agreed that this is a good test. It would leave copy & paste script kiddies (and LLMs) curled up in the dust.

Huh. I've always considered the Motorola 6809 to be the first 8-bit AI processor. I may need to rethink that. And there's also the COSMAC 1802 - a true register wizard, and candidate as the first 16-bit AI processor. Forgotten too soon, as most pioneers are.
