The Japanese-made Sord M-5 home computer, released in 1982, was named in homage to Dr Daystrom's creation in this story. Ironically it too was deemed a failure and discontinued after about a year. #AllStarTrek #TOS #TheUltimateComputer

For unknown reasons, the M5 attacks and destroys an unmanned ore freighter. While Kirk and McCoy both demand that Daystrom offer an explanation. At no time does anyone think of directly asking the M5 why it took such action. #AllStarTrek #TOS #TheUltimateComputer
