Day one of Queer Community Building was refreshing and left me feeling enriched by the participants contributions that illustrated the strength of our communities.

5/ In my experience, what works is recognising and giving value to all voices. People are more open to dialogue when they feel heard, respected, and involved in the process rather than being lectured to.

I’ve just finished @cormacrussell.bsky.social’s book on The Connected Community and I suspect he would agree.

All communities have assets but we’re not good at exploring them, preferring to highlight the deficits.

I’m currently listening to @cormacrussell.bsky.social and John McKnight’s book on “The Connected Community”.

This would fit with some of their suggestions to pull communities together.
