Little Things That Keep Us Going Survival doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like a service dog curled around your legs, unread books waiting patiently, sour candy that burns just enough, and the quiet decision to stay. This is a list of the little things that keep me here. Maybe you have some too.

Survival doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like a dog who won’t leave your side, books you haven’t read yet, and the quiet choice to stay.

The little things that keep me here ⤵️

Winter Routine, No Performance Required Winter changes everything. Bodies hurt differently. Energy disappears faster. The rules shift. This is what survival, care, and a service dog’s routine look like when the world outside is hostile and rest is part of the job. No performance required.

Winter changes everything. Bodies hurt differently. Routines soften.

This is what life with chronic illness + a medical alert service dog looks like when safety comes before performance. 🐾🖤

No inspiration porn. Just care.

On the Door You Don’t Open (But Still Have to Look At) There are doors you don’t open. But that doesn’t mean you don’t see them. It doesn’t mean you don’t think about what’s on the other side when loss starts stacking up quietly, piece by piece.

There are doors you don’t open.
But that doesn’t mean you don’t see them.

On disability, medical aid in dying, Me Before You, and the thresholds we don’t talk about.

Cold Toebeans, Sticky Tape Humans, and the Places We Love My name is Luna Bean. I am a medical alert service dog with very strong opinions and extremely sensitive toebeans. This week, winter chose violence. The tests didn’t happen. The veins said no. My human came home wrapped in sticky tape and grief, and we stayed in bed under the heated blanket because sometimes care doesn’t look like answers. We also lost a place that mattered. Not just a store, but a routine. A memory. The last place Bear ever went. We grieve people. We grieve animals. And sometimes we grieve the places that helped keep us alive. That grief still counts.

Cold weather, bad veins, cancelled tests, and grieving a place that mattered 🐾❄️
This week’s Luna Takeover is about service dogs, rest days, sticky tape humans, and why grief for places still counts.

A Saturday Weekly Health Update: Bed Jail™, Bad Weeks, and Small Mercies A bad week doesn’t always come with lessons learned or tidy endings. Sometimes it just comes with paint fumes, missed calls, seizures, and the quiet kind of survival that happens anyway. This Saturday health update is about medical gaslighting, side effects that won’t let up, Bed Jail™, small thrift-store wins, and choosing rest without guilt when your body makes the rules.

Some weeks don’t teach lessons.
They just test your ability to stay.

Paint fumes, seizures, side effects, Bed Jail™, thrift-store wins, and the quiet kind of survival.
This week’s health update is live.

The Week That Would Not Give Up: Luna’s Takeover 🐾 Luna takes over the Den to chronicle a week that refused to be gentle. Between seizures, medical gatekeeping, cold weather aches, leftover pork chops, and the quiet work of a medical alert service dog, this is a firsthand look at chronic illness life told through watchful eyes, steady paws, and the kind of love that never clocks out.

Some weeks don’t listen when you tell them to stop.
This one gets told by my medical alert service dog. 🐾

Seizures, cold toebeans, medical gatekeeping, and leftover pork chops.
Welcome to the Den.

What I Really Grieved When I Went Deaf When I went deaf in my 30s, suddenly, violently, and without warning, I thought I was grieving silence. Turns out, I was grieving being seen. The silence I accepted. The stereotypes? Not so much.
