A group of new green fronds spiraling up from underground. A few of last year’s leaves are below. Growing in a forest with lots of brown fallen leaves.
Christmas Ferns are unfurling their new fronds. #SignsofSpring

Tree Peony
Herbaceous Peony
I found Tree Peony buds and young shoots of Herbaceous peonies. Spring might be just around the corner.

So much blossom to admire, comma and small tortoiseshell butterflies despite the cold start, a huge scarlet elf cup, lime green fresh leaves, narcissi, a ladybird, beautiful blue skies, camelia, coltsfoot, and frilly cherry blossom
#JoinMeOnMyWalk Glorious day in #Preston today, so a long walk in good company was a must, seeing my 1st small tortoiseshell, coltsfoot & pink cherry bloosom of the year, such #SignsOfSpring @thephotohour.bsky.social #Lancashire #vitaminN #joy

A windy chilly 48° out here today, but I enjoyed a bit of garden perusal.
A Bumblebee shaped insect with a fluffy looking light brown body and a black tail. It has a long straight proboscis held out in front of it. Its translucent wings are held back and have small black dots on them. It's resting on a light coloured hessian bag. It's pointing upwards.
My first Bee-fly of the year just now in the back garden. A Dotted Bee-fly (Bombylius discolor) resting on a hessian sack of dead leaves. 😍

"Days of Orange and Gold"
#Rhododendron "Nancy Evans" belongs in any suitable (cooler moist climate, acid soil) garden. Hard to take a bad photo of this one.
Shot on May 8, 2021 in my front yard garden bordering the walkway and street.

A photo showing a carpet of wild daffodils in a woodland clearing with blue sky behind.
Head to your nearest woodland or meadow and you might be lucky enough to spot a cheerful carpet of wild daffodils - a true sign of spring 💛🌿

Last week, just the toads and newts had turned up to this woodland pond near home. This week it had well and truly been taken over by spring's returning frogs. It was a proper pool party and a joy to behold, both in sight and sound

A brown frog’s head emerges from the water, framed by a v of brown stems below. It looks straight towards the camera.
More from the frog pond! There are about 5 males so far plus a female must have come and gone because there’s one cluster of eggs already

Our first #chiffchaff heard was singing yesterday! A few days later than last year, but always a welcome sound. A simple first birdsong to learn too.

A large group of short delicate purple flowers with yellow centers and grass like green stalks huddles tightly together among brown wood chips. Their petals reach up as if trying to cup the sunlight shining down on them.
After a long week of dreary weather, I've been reaching for the sunlight the past couple of days myself.

Looking up at tree branches with red flowers and also some green/gray lichen. Blue sky.
When I went out to fill the birdbath, I saw some red flowers on the ground. My maple tree is blooming. #SignsOfSpring
