Thinking of exploring English / Scottish / Welsh #LocalHistory to augment and contextualise your #FamilyHistory (perhaps with a #OnePlaceStudy in mind)? If so, Pharos Tutors has a course for you. Next course starts April 13th and runs for 4 weeks.
And in the 1910-1915 electoral registers, house names used for a while – after residents were compelled to use house names or numbers from 1909 – but which were then abandoned in favour of numbers. I may have to follow up my “By the numbers” #OnePlaceStudy blog post with a Part 3! #OnePlaceWednesday
Head still spinning at all the new info in these electoral registers and possible further research. Absent voters lists may shed light on #WW1 service of some Waters Upton men. So many names of short-term between-census residents not in my #OnePlaceStudy 'tree' to follow up. 1/2 #OnePlaceWednesday
It would though be a great way to get material relating to the school and your #OnePlaceStudy online, for those with an interest in Sudbourne who are not Society members and so would not see the Destinations article! #OnePlaceWednesday

Great Ellingham One-Place Study. Image: Photo looking along a village street on a sunny, blue-skied day. On the left is a two-storey, four-bay cottage with white walls and a tiled roof, with further cottages and their gardens further along that side of the street. On the right, part of another building with white walls can be seen in the foreground, with the spire-topped tower of the village church a little further long the street, partially hidden by a couple of trees. This month Heather Etteridge has added two posts to her Great Ellingham #OnePlaceStudy website, both relating to Brick Kiln Farm. Check out Heather’s March 2026 blog posts on this #OnePlaceWednesday!

An explosion of daffodils at my #OnePlaceStudy St. John's Square, Wakefield today.
Researching #FamilyHistory, #LocalHistory or a #OnePlaceStudy in #Suffolk? If so, you may find this recorded talk helpful. 🙂
Yesterday, I continued this work by transcribing about 130 residents who were living in St. John's Square, Wakefield in the 1871 Census. Again there is no house numbers but it is possible to work out the number for some as they appear in a later census where house numbers are given.

Could free access to 59 of Ancestry UK’s record sets from 8 to 18 March help your #FamilyHistory or #OnePlaceStudy research? WDYTYA Magazine’s article has details of some of the key records available.
In between the rugby excitement I’ve been working on a small subset of my #OnePlaceStudy people across the 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses. Interesting set of returners - there in 1851, away in 1861, back in 1871. #NorthWallsAndBrims #Orkney
That website is a treasure trove for information about pubs in Kent! It’s so valuable for my #OnePlaceStudy.
My current #OnePlaceStudy project is the Lloyd George Domesday Book. Adding it into a spreadsheet so I can analyse it and then map it. This might take a while, I know there are over 900 records, I am on 72…….
Did smuggling take place in your English or Welsh #OnePlaceStudy in the early 1700s?
Completed transcribing about 200 entries from the 1881 Census onto a spreadsheet last night for the residents of St. John's Square, Wakefield. For some of the residents I could allocate a house number as they were still living there in 1891.

You’d think that having visited my #OnePlaceStudy of #Sudbourne the week before last, & spending 2 days in the archives, that I’d have loads to share. But I’ve made so many discoveries that it’s taking me a while to sort all my photos out & analyse the content!

I’m hoping that shoes can pass as clothes for the purposes of this prompt 🤞🏻 There seems to be a high proportion of shoemakers in my #OnePlaceStudy. I might look at neighbouring villages for comparison #OnePlaceWednesday
